Book Review ------- Bronte Challenge.

I have just finished 'Agnes Grey' by Anne Bronte as part of the
Bronte challenge. This is the second time I have read it and imho it is as wonderful as ever the second time around.
It follows a familiar theme with the Brontes works; governesses, the material wealth of some and the heroine's quest to find happiness against all the odds. It was written at around the same time that Charlotte and Emily wrote 'The Professor' and 'Wuthering Heights'.Having visited the Bronte Parsonage in Haworth I can imagine much discussion of their respective books as they go about the routine of the household.
Saying that I love 'Agnes Grey' is an understatement. As you can see by my favourites list to the right 'Agnes' is top of the pile. I enjoyed the plot, and the anticipation of the heroine's fate. A storyline that is not always seen today where right overcomes wrong and God is glorified in Heaven makes a refreshing change. A change that I will welcome many times as I choose my next 'Bronte'.
I was under the impression that I owned most of the 'Bronte' works, but alas I think that one of my dear daughters has taken a liking to them too, and a few have disappeared(the culprit has been warned, lol!)So when my replacements arrive I will decide on another to complete the challenge.
