Material Obsession.

Yes, I sometimes think this is an obsession...
When your daughters buy you(among other things) metres of material for your birthday --- we are probably bordering on the obsessive. After saying that I am most grateful for all my gifts and I adore the fabrics.

The photos are my attempts at a quilted picnic tablecloth. I have decided to try and make it reversible . The sunflower fabric on the back of the couch will be cut to about 24" square for the 'first' side and I will then use scraps of the other materials used in the 'Dresden plate' design to make blocks to frame the square.
The other side will be as you see but I have only used bondaweb (at the moment) to hold it in place . The centre flower is cut from the main fabric.I'm about to start appliquing it all soon. When both sides are complete , with wadding inbetween I'll quilt it altogether.

I loved the colours and the sunflower fabric is just perfect! All we will need is the sun to come out again. After lovely weather on Saturday -- yesterday and today have been quite miserable.
Will go now and get out my 'faithful' Janome.

It will seem as if the sun is shining everytime this comes out. Perfect for picnics

This is going to be fabulous. You have your children well trained - not just fabric but gorgeous fabric! Mine also recognise my obsession but usually choose lovely books which tend to add to my list of quilts to make.

Amy's Quilt Festival.

Over at Amy's blog there is an online quilt festival starting today and running for a week. As I have only ever made one quilt I don't have a lot of choice but as no judging takes place I thought I'd participate. Apologies to those who have already read the details of the quilt in an earlier post but I need to chronicle the it's making for the festival. It was about 2-3 years in the planning , as I was such a coward I really didn't know where to begin. The idea for the quilt was a request from my youngest daughter and not wishing to disappoint I immediately agreed. The material was duly bought and about 2 squares were sewn and that was it for at least a year!!! Booking through Thursday

This is this week's discussion We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading. Even though we know they’re fabulous. Even though we know that we’ll like them. Or that we’ll learn from them. Or just that they’re supposed to be worthy. We just … haven’t gotten around to them yet.
