Booking through Thursday

Topic----

'The northern hemisphere, at least, is socked in by winter right now… So, on a cold, wintry day, when you want nothing more than to curl up with a good book on the couch … what kind of reading do you want to do? '

My choice on wintry days is either historical fiction or crime novels. Anything that will stop me gazing at the horrible weather, pure escapism is the order of a winter's day.
We have had another snowy spell and so I am about to start a book a very dear friend bought for me ----
Martyr by Rory Clements. Set in Elizabethan England it ticks all the boxes for me --- historical and crime.
Maybe the chores will be sidelined a little today and the couch will beckon.

What about you, which books brighten your Winter days?

Check out more books here.

Ooo, historical crime. I enjoy those, but my husband loves them. I'm always on the lookout for titles to entice him to read a little more. I'll have to throw this one at him. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Oh, I LOVE historical fiction, any time anywhere. I'm not in the snowy north, anymore, so it's hard to say what I'd read while snowed in (and I certainly don;t like to imagine!) but I do think I'd readily raise my hand for a good time period piece. Enjoy! :O)

I read a lot of historical fiction too - great escapism. We're expecting a big storm this weekend and here's what I've got ready to read - http://justbookreading.com/2010/02/04/booking-through-thursday-%E2%80%93-winter-reading/.

Escapism is key when one longs for sunshine n warmth only to look outside and be reminded that sunshine n warmth went tropical and left behind gray n cold! ;)

Historical Crime is a bit to serious to read when I don't want to think much.

Ah, there are just so many to choose from! I love 'The Gentle Art of Domesticity' by Jane Brocket, that always brightens my day...

As does anything to do with cookery and baking.

Anything that takes me out of the everyday and into something that bit more special and pretty.
