Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about tidy reading around people.

When is it inappropriate to read in front of others? Is it ever appropriate?

If I didn't read in front of other people I wouldn't get much reading done. However, after saying that, I am not rude ;I don't read in the middle of a conversation or when in someone else's home.
My own family in my house are readers and to read in the family setting is quite the norm. As we all read different types of books this habit sparks off some interesting conversations.

I agree with you Mog, I think it is only ever inappropriate to read when with company (excluding those whom you live with).
Likewise, if I didn't read in front of other people, I would be unlikely to do much reading at all.
I wonder though if the etiquette is different in other countries...?

I agree with you that family reading is absolutely appropriate. Other than that, though, I try not to be rude.

Your lasagne looks so yummy! I'm off today and maybe I'll make it as a surprise for my husband.

Hmmm...maybe I am a bit rude. ;-)
But personally I think it is always appropriate to read, until proven otherwise. lol

Over at Amy's blog there is an online quilt festival starting today and running for a week. As I have only ever made one quilt I don't have a lot of choice but as no judging takes place I thought I'd participate. Apologies to those who have already read the details of the quilt in an earlier post but I need to chronicle the it's making for the festival. It was about 2-3 years in the planning , as I was such a coward I really didn't know where to begin. The idea for the quilt was a request from my youngest daughter and not wishing to disappoint I immediately agreed. This is this week's discussion We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading. Even though we know they’re fabulous. Even though we know that we’ll like them. Or that we’ll learn from them. Or just that they’re supposed to be worthy. We just … haven’t gotten around to them yet.
