Booking through Thursday

This is this week's discussion
We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading. Even though we know they’re fabulous. Even though we know that we’ll like them. Or that we’ll learn from them. Or just that they’re supposed to be worthy. We just … haven’t gotten around to them yet.

What’s the best book that YOU haven’t read yet?

I think this week's discussion could be closely related to my last post concerning the Daily Telegraph article on reading habits.
However as I have already 'casted my vote' in the 'Telegraph' poll I'll concentrate on books on my bookshelf that I intend to read one day.
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver has been sitting on my shelf for years and it remains unread. There is no particular reason for it remaining so I just haven't picked it up, even though it has achieved numerous good reviews.
One of my favourite authors is Anne Bronte and although I have read 'Agnes Grey',
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall' has always been left on the shelf.
My mood seems to influence my choice of books and sometimes a light , happy read is needed whether it is on a 'list' or not.
More book 'talk' can be found
here.

I, too, am a moody reader. That's why it's very hard for me to make a list of next few books I'll read, unless it's for a review or a book discussion.
Yeah, I tried to read The Poisonwood Bible last year for the modern classics challenge, but didn't get around to it. I'd checked it out from the library and three weeks went by while I read other stuff, and I didn't even crack it. I finally bought a used copy to sit on my shelf and guilt-trip me into finally reading it.

I'm also a mood reader, I want to be ready for a book before I tackle it. That said, I adore The Poisonwood Bible! You should definitely get to it soon. =)

Thanks for visiting my blog, I too have had The Tenant of Wildfell Hall sitting on my shelf for ages, not sure what is putting me off as it is supposed to be excellent.

"Wildfell Hall" is one of the books on my TBR shelf, too. I've always thought that was such a great title. But the only Bronte book I've ever been able to stick with all the way through was "Wuthering Heights."

I, too, have had The Poisonwood Bible for a long time. I actually unwittinglingly bought a second copy at a thrift store thinking, "Oh my! I really want to read that!" Duh!

Have too many great books not yet read to list I am afraid.
Have got and read The Poisonewood Bible though. Very interesting and certainly makes you think of someof the things that were done in God's name. I enjoyed it.

My book club read The Poisonwood Bible years ago. One member raved that it 'changed her life'. I liked it, but was no where near that enthusiastic!

I liked The Poisonwood Bible, but don't think it's that amazing. I just liked it. There were some beautiful passages, which I loved.
I'd like to read The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, too. :)

I guess my education must be lacking because I've never heard of The Poisonwood Bible or The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. :) Checked out Poisonwood Bible on Amazon and it looks interesting. Thanks for visiting my blog on BTT.
