This week has been a good reading week.
Having started the week with a thriller by Mary Higgins Clark, namely 'Silent Night' I moved onto 'Fortune like the Moon ' by Alys Clare.
The first book mentioned I found a little disappointing, a Christmas story (as it's title suggests) was a quiet, tame thriller. Perhaps as it was set around Christmas the author felt a more gentle approach was needed. The gist of the story was in the police attemps to find a young boy , kidnapped by a criminal.

The second of the books, 'Fortune like the Moon' is written by Alys Clare. This is part of my Medieval Challenge.
This novel is set in the reign of Richard the Lionheart. When a body of a young nun is found quite near her abbey and a local monastery, the two congregations are witness to a serial of lies and deceipt.The King's emissary Josse d' Aquin is sent to the area to solve the murder , only to be confronted by another body. Josse finds an ally in the Abbess of the Hawkenlye Abbey and between them the murders are solved , but not before the local land owners are involved in the investigation.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will look for more from this author.

I'm off to the ballet now, 'Swan Lake, by the Siberian National Ballet. Really looking forward to it, I will post details tomorrow.

I usually enjoy Mary Higgins Clark but I haven't read this particular book. I probably won't try it unless I'm in the mood for something like it around Christmas.

Amy's Quilt Festival.

Over at Amy's blog there is an online quilt festival starting today and running for a week. As I have only ever made one quilt I don't have a lot of choice but as no judging takes place I thought I'd participate. Apologies to those who have already read the details of the quilt in an earlier post but I need to chronicle the it's making for the festival. It was about 2-3 years in the planning , as I was such a coward I really didn't know where to begin. The idea for the quilt was a request from my youngest daughter and not wishing to disappoint I immediately agreed. Booking through Thursday

This is this week's discussion We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading.
