Book Review.

I have just finished this book.The characters were well developed and the air of mystery pervaded the pages.By not naming the second wife who is the narrator of the story, adds to the mystery. This character is very timid and submissive but as the story develops she appears strong and protective.
The book breezed along beautifully for me, but the last few pages were a disappointment. Perhaps the ending was to signify the end of all their troubles or maybe the beginning, as the truth of the crime was not revealed.
As the story draws to a close, another book is discussed, 'Rebecca's Tale' by Sally Beauman. This book follows on from 'Rebecca' twenty years after the original was set.I liked the few pages regarding this book and will read it one day, it's added to my TBR list.

This book is definitely one of the top picks when it comes to the gothic style of literature!

Oh, my gosh! I never would have imagined that book is still around! I must have read it 40 years ago. How nice that it's become a classic. She wrote some other good ones, too, but that was always my favorite.

Over at Amy's blog there is an online quilt festival starting today and running for a week. As I have only ever made one quilt I don't have a lot of choice but as no judging takes place I thought I'd participate. Apologies to those who have already read the details of the quilt in an earlier post but I need to chronicle the it's making for the festival. It was about 2-3 years in the planning , as I was such a coward I really didn't know where to begin. The idea for the quilt was a request from my youngest daughter and not wishing to disappoint I immediately agreed. The material was duly bought and about 2 squares were sewn and that was it for at least a year!!! This is this week's discussion We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading.
