Among all my recipe books I found this wonderful little book that I had forgotten about.
The author of the book lived in a village in Wiltshire, U.K. which was taken as Meryton in the book and in the 1995 adaptation on B.B.C.

Some of the recipes have great names,

'Mr. Whickham's Indelicate Pudding','Lady Catherine de Bourgh's Brittle Bites or Snaps'.

Thought it may be of interest and although a little late for books on the subject of afternoon tea I'll post it on the Tea-a Thon on Gracious Hospitality(see places I like to visit).

The books author is Margaret Vaughan, published in 1996, ISBN 86123 065 6.

Now I must start some baking.

Amy's Quilt Festival.

Over at Amy's blog there is an online quilt festival starting today and running for a week. As I have only ever made one quilt I don't have a lot of choice but as no judging takes place I thought I'd participate. Apologies to those who have already read the details of the quilt in an earlier post but I need to chronicle the it's making for the festival. It was about 2-3 years in the planning , as I was such a coward I really didn't know where to begin. The idea for the quilt was a request from my youngest daughter and not wishing to disappoint I immediately agreed. The material was duly bought and about 2 squares were sewn and that was it for at least a year!!! Booking through Thursday

This is this week's discussion We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading. Even though we know they’re fabulous. Even though we know that we’ll like them. Or that we’ll learn from them. Or just that they’re supposed to be worthy. We just … haven’t gotten around to them yet.
