Gracious Hospitality

This week we are displaying any stitched items relating to Afternoon Tea. I have a couple of embroidered tablecloths.

The squared tablecloth was a gift to my grandmother in the 1930's . It is embroidered in squares and then the squares are stitched together. The stitching between the squares looks a little like a railway line. Which is curious because the lady that worked it was a Stationmaster's wife. I must admit I don't use it it's too precious!

The tray cloth was embroidered by myself in 1961 (I was 9). It's not perfect by any means, but not bad for a 9yr. old

p.s. Excuse the layout I don't seem to have got the hang of this yet.!

The embroidery looks lovely. I think I may have some of mine from when I was a child - somewhere.

I find the layout difficult too, but I've found it helps if you type the post in the Edit HTML tab rather than the Compose one. I only just found this out after nearly a year of writing my blog.

You were quite the accomplished embroiderer at nine! The tablecloth connected by "railroad" stitches is a treasure. Just lovely!

Really pretty embroidery. I especially like the gift to your Grandmother...very pretty and also a little different, with the "train tracks". It's really stood the test of time; it looks in fab condition!

You have some beautiful embroidered linens. My grandmother sat with me to help me complete an emboridery project. It's special even though it's not perfect. Enjoy...
You have some very pretty needlework, the tablecloth is precious indeed!

I finally have mine posted.

Oh your tablecover is very nice. I need one of those. HA! All your things are lovely. I can't imagine being able to do that needlework that you did at 9 years old. You must have had a great tutor and encourager. Good job!
